Dr Omair Afzal is the Principal Dentist and owner of Sutton Aesthetic Dentistry in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. With almost two decades of clinical experience since qualifying from the University of Birmingham in 2005, he has built a strong reputation for delivering high-end aesthetic, restorative and orthodontic dentistry with a calm, meticulous and highly detail-oriented approach.
He completed his postgraduate Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) in Prosthodontics at King’s College London in 2018 with Distinction and has continued to pursue advanced education in multiple clinical fields. This includes comprehensive training in implant systems such as Nobel Biocare and Neodent, bone grafting under the mentorship of Professor Istvan Urban, and advanced orthodontic techniques, including fixed braces training under Ross Hobson (IAS) and Diamond Invisalign provider status.
Dr Afzal specialises in complex cosmetic dentistry, multidisciplinary full mouth rehabilitation, implant dentistry and orthodontics. He has performed over 1,000 dental implant placements, more than 3,000 fixed orthodontic and Invisalign cases, and in excess of 10,000 composite bonding and veneer procedures. He is widely known for managing complex restorative and re-treatment cases, particularly those involving worn, heavily restored, or failing dentitions. Patients regularly travel over 100 miles to seek his expertise.
He adopts a minimally invasive, precision-driven approach and utilises the latest 3D scanning and digital planning technologies to ensure predictable outcomes. His primary focus is on achieving aesthetic excellence without compromising long-term function.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Afzal lectures at the University of Birmingham, where he teaches newly qualified dentists advanced techniques in crown and veneer preparation. He has published case studies in Dentistry Magazine (aligner treatment) and contributed to The Journal of Dentistry on composite —reinforcing his commitment to clinical excellence and knowledge sharing.
Dr Afzal believes that dentistry requires both scientific accuracy and artistic craftsmanship. He takes time to thoroughly explain treatment options and uses digital imaging to help patients visualise their results. His philosophy centres around continuous refinement, precision in every intervention and delivering dentistry that is long-term, minimally invasive and patient-focused.
Outside of dentistry, Dr Afzal is a family man with two children—a son and a daughter. He enjoys travelling and prioritising quality family time through regular holidays. His professional ethos of constant improvement extends into his personal life and clinical practice.
